A/N: I wrote this for
believetobefree who requested Akame + the Carnival of Venice. I really hope you’ll enjoy reading what I came up with based on that. It might not have been what you had in mind…
I tried to do a smaller research for this but there are probably a lot of things that wouldn’t be considered historically accurate. I have no idea if Japan had any connections with Venice or other parts of Europe, or what kind of connections that could be, during the 18th century in which this story is taking place. That’s all I think I need to say before you start reading. I hope this will be an enjoyable reading :)
He takes out and unrolls the piece of paper to read the letter again. It’s a short message telling him where and when and signed with a big red circle. The red symbol looks out of place among the rest of the message written in Japanese and in black ink. He has no idea who the sender is but the fact that there was another person, a man (he could tell by the bad handwriting) that is apparently Japanese and not working for him, had sparked his interest. He wanted to know who this mysterious man was and what he wanted with him. He puts the letter back into his pocket, adjusts his mask and then glanced out over the big crowed of people. There is hundreds out there and almost everyone is, like him, wearing a mask. How would he be able to find the other among them all? He doesn’t even know what the other looks like. The only clue in the message had been that the man would be wearing a mask. Not much of a good help when everyone else in the city is doing the same. He sighs and then starts to make his way through the masses of people trying to look at everyone’s faces to see if there is any trace of Japanese heritage in their looks.
He’s been searching for what feels like a very long time when he suddenly feels shivers go down his spine. It feels like someone is staring at him, like someone is thoroughly observing his every move. He spins around on the spot looking for who could only be the mystery man. There are still a lot people all around him but none of them seems to pay him anything else but slightly curious glances at the way he’s dressed. Japanese people isn’t a common sight in Venice, and that’s why Kame’s more than a little intrigued by the message than he should’ve been had it been written in Italian. He twists and turns around on the spot trying to find the person he could still feel observing him. The shivers continuing to run up and down his spine is making him feel uneasy. He tries to shake the feeling away as he starts to walk again and hoping that the man will revel himself soon.
“Got you” A strong hand suddenly reaches out and grabs his arm pulling him in behind a stack of wooden boxes and up against a stone wall. Kame winces in slight pain as his back make contact with the hard surface.
“What the…?” Kame is about to complain but cuts himself of when he sees the handsome man in front of him. There’s no doubt that the stranger is Japanese just like himself. His eyes are deep and dark and his lips are full and alluring. The dark locks of hair framing his face is held back a bit by the mask pushed up on top of his head.
“Nice to finally meet you in person Kamenashi Kazuya” the man say and Kame realizes after a second that the other was speaking in Japanese.
“Who are you?” he asks back in the same language. He has never seen this man before; he would’ve remembered if he had.
“Akanishi” the man steps closer and places his hands on each side of Kame’s head. “Akanishi Jin”
“Akanishi-san?” Kame repeats and now the way the letter had been signed made sense. The colour Red for Aka and the circle form for Nishi. Something he wouldn’t have understood wasn’t he somewhat knowledge in the Italian language.
“How do you know my name?” Kame asks trying his best not to let the rush of excitement by their close proximity showing in his voice.
“You’d really like to know that wouldn’t you?” the man teases as one of his hands moves to take of Kame’s mask.
“Of course I would” Kame frowns but a shiver goes through him as the other’s fingertips come in contact with his face.
“Your father sent me to check up on you” Akanishi smirked. “Or rather when he knew I’d be going to Venice for my own father’s business he asked me to check up on you.”
Kame huffed. It is just typical his father to be worried about him just because he hadn’t sent anything but business letters back home during the last few years. Shouldn’t the fact that their company is doing fine tell him that everything is alright with him as well?
“So our fathers are business partners?” he asks. “How come I’ve never heard of you, Akanishi-san?”
“I don’t know” Akanishi shrugs. “I’ve heard about you though and that’s why I didn’t hesitate to accept your father’s request.”
A feeling of dread went through his body. What could this man possibly have heard about him? Had he not been careful enough with hiding his previous affairs? If Akanishi knew, then did that mean that his own father knew about it as well?
“Don’t worry,” Akanishi smirks. Kame had obviously not been able to hide his feelings too well or the other’s just very good at reading people. “All I’ve heard is about your beauty and those were no lies. You preferring men are nothing more than my own wishful thinking. I like taking risks.”
Kame sighs in relief and then smirks back at the other. “Lucky for you then that I do prefer men, Akanishi-san”
Akanishi lets out a soft before moving closer to Kame. “Please say Jin.” He presses his body against Kame’s, his hands still placed against the stone wall behind Kame. “Akanishi-san is my father and I rather not think about him or have you crying out his name”
“Jin” Kame repeats feeling the body heat radiating from the other.
“Can I call you Kazuya?” Jin asks his eyes piercing into Kame’s and making his mind go blank. He only offers a simple nod in return. Jin grins again and then leans in to press his lips against Kame’s. Kame closes his eyes as he starts to move his mouth against Jin’s and engulf himself in the sensation. It’s soft, it’s wet, it’s hot and it’s absolutely amazing. He clenches the fabric of Jin’s clothing firmly in his hands pulling the other in just a little bit closer.
“We should move” Jin whispers when they break the kiss. “My apartment is just a few streets away”
Kame looks at Jin for a moment. The suggestion is very tempting. He clenches and unclenches the fabric in his hands enjoying the impatient and lust filled look in the other’s eyes. He smirks and pushes the other away from him playfully.
“Lead the way” he pulls his own mask down to hide his face. He doesn’t need any one of his employees to see him with Jin. Not that the mask would do much since he’s dressed the way he is, but at least if anyone spotted him they couldn’t be completely sure it was him.
*
The soft fabric of the sheets feels cool against his hot and sated body as he’s enjoying the afterglow. Next to him Jin is panting loudly and through the open window he can hear the sounds of the busy streets as the people of Venice are enjoying the carnival to the most. He shifts position so that he’s lying on his side and can look at Jin. The other’s eyes are closed and his breathing is slowly getting back to normal. Kame can’t help but smile and give in to the urge to brush some stray locks away from Jin’s face. Jin opens his eyes at the touch and a soft smile, an expression Kame hasn’t seen before, appears on the other’s face.
“Kazuya” Jin breaths out gently, like a soft caress.
“Jin” Kame replies moving in closer and letting his hand move from Jin’s face to rest on top of Jin’s chest instead. “What’s happening now?”
Kame doesn’t know why he really cares. He doesn’t know this man, not really, but somehow he doesn’t want this to be a onetime happening.
“We enjoy our time together until I have to leave for Edo” Jin places a hand on top of Kame’s and squeezes it. “And then I’ll tell your father that you’re doing completely fine. Then I’ll come back here as soon as I can and we can continue enjoying ourselves together”
Kame doesn’t know how to react to that so he just stays still and silent but his heart starts beating faster. Jin doesn’t move or say anything either and the air feels thick with something Kame can’t put his finger on. They stay like that for several long minutes. Their hands stay on Jin’s chest where Kame can feel the other’s heart beating, and the only sound in the room being their breathing and the sound of laughter and music coming from the streets.
“Kazuya” Jin says again and rolls over to his side to face Kame and let their hands land between them. The way Jin is saying the name makes Kame shiver and unconsciously he pulls the bedcover up over his body with his free hand.
“Kazuya” Jin repeats and moves closer to capture Kame’s lips in kiss. This kiss is slower and gentler than their many previous kisses. Kame shivers again and moves in closer to get some of Jin’s body heat. Their legs tangle under the cover but their hands stay still.
“Jin” Kame whispers as they break away and he smiles at the other. There is a fluttering feeling in the pit of his stomach that he’s not really sure of what it is but he has a vague idea what it could be.
The end.

I had to re-read it since I was too excited the first time around and raced through it! haha. But the second time I could get a nice take on it! ;D
I love decisive Jin - always so hot! and picturing Jin and Kame in Ventian masks...ooo! *_*
and I just realized after reading some of your fics, that depending on the pairing and Kame's position I will see him pre/post winter 2009/2010-ish. With Jin it's always pre, i.e. a slimmer more feminine Kame. With Tegoshi Kame's the man in the relationship and more butch like he was last year. It's an interesting idea I think!^^
no subject
And you know what, I think I get the same image of Kame in my mind as you do, kind of. Kame being the more feminine one when he's with Jin but being more butch when I pair him with Tegoshi. Well I guess that's just because we know he can be both masculine and feminine &hearts I guess this is also why I can read him in almost any pairing, he just works with pretty much everyone XP *end of rambling*

I love the backdrop of this story, how it was set in Venice in the 18th century. The thought of Jin and Kame living in that time and the clothes they'd be wearing *grins*
Thank you for sharing this piece with us! And gosh, I think I'm feeling that fluttering feeling in the pit of my stomach as well! ♥♥♥
