[Akame One shot] Part of the Family
Title: Part of the Family
Pairing: Akame
Genre: Fluff, friendship, hinted romance

Summary: Jin gets to meet “his” newborn niece for the very first time.
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the plot.
A/N: I had first meant for this to be a drabble but somehow this grew way over 1000 words so it became a one-shot instead and the ending didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted it too but meh, I guess it is an okay ending. Also, this is a sequel to the drabble Family Affair I posted last time, but you can read this without reading that drabble first.
This is also most likely the last thing I post before I go to Barcelona with my friend on Monday. I will try to write something during my stay in Spain so that I have something ready to post when I get back on the 9th.

”Is it really okay for me to come and visit just like this?” Jin asked Kame as they reached the garden gate to Kame’s parents’ house. He looked down at the bag in his hand and wondered if what he had bought would a good enough present for the baby girl. Maybe he should’ve gotten her something else?
“Yes of course it is” Kame replied with a soft smile and a pat on Jin’s shoulder. “And it’s not like it is a surprise visit. It’s been planned for days and Mum’s delighted that you’re coming over, and so is my sister-in-law. She haven’t seen you since the wedding”
“But still, I mean she must be tired. The baby’s just a month old” Jin bit down on his lip and threw another glance at the bag.
“If you’re worried about the present, don’t be.” Kame smiled and this time he reached out his hand to squeeze the hand with which Jin was clenching the bag. “I’m sure that whatever you got her is good”
“I’m blaming you if it’s not and she starts crying” Jin murmured, a tingling feeling spreading from his clenched hand and up his arm out through his whole body.
“You do that” Kame mused and then let go of Jin’s hand to push the gate open for them to enter. The hinges made a loud creak and just as they had entered and closed it again Kame’s mother opened the front door and greeted them with a big smile.
“Kazuya, Jin-kun!” she called out as she walked up to them and pull them both into a hug. “You’re early”
“Finished work earlier than planned” Kame replied, giving his mum a chaste kiss on the cheek before he untangled himself from her embrace.
“Good, then you two can look after Hana-chan while Keiko takes a short nap and I finish the dinner” She ruffled Jin’s hair affectionately before she freed him from her embrace “Poor Keiko haven’t been able to rest at all today”
“Where is everyone else? I thought the whole family would be home” Kame said as the three of them made it to the house.
“Dad and your older brothers are away on some kind of sports game” she replied. “And Yuya have baseball practice. He’ll be home for dinner later”
Jin was happy to hear that Kame’s older brothers weren’t there. He had always felt a little intimidated by them even though they had done nothing to really make him feel that way, other than teasing him for almost anything, just like with Kame, and acting like he was just another brother. Also, they always made him arm-wrestle with them knowing that they would win for sure. Kame always lost too though.
Keiko was sitting in the living room when they entered the house with Hana in her arms. Her face was turned down at the small little girl but she looked up and gave them a tired but genuine smile when she heard them entering the room. Jin smiled back and then he blushed slightly when he noticed that she was actually breastfeeding and he averted his eyes only to get them locked with Kame’s. Amusement was clearly reflecting in the other’s eyes as he patted Jin’s shoulder and then walked over to the couch and sat down next to his sister-in-law. Jin dared to look at them and saw that Kame had reached a hand out to stroke the little girl over the head softly.
“When you’re done feeding we can take care of her for a while” Kame said as he continued on with the stroking and Jin couldn’t help but smile. Kame looked so sweet and gentle and Jin couldn’t help but think that Kame would make a great dad one day.
“Thanks” she smiled at Kame and then looked over at Jin. “Why don’t you sit down as well Jin-kun? I haven’t seen you in ages but you still look great. As always”
“Thanks” Jin couldn’t help but blush again at a compliment like that. Keiko was always generous with compliments but even so it never failed to make Jin feel slightly uncomfortable. “You look good too.”
“Thanks” she smiled at him as he sat down next to Kame on the couch.
“She’s really cute” Jin commented and glanced over at the baby sucking on her mother’s breast hungrily. He was still a little bit embarrassed over witnessing it but he was trying to not show it since Keiko seemingly wasn’t uncomfortable.
“She is, isn’t she?” Kame turned his attention to Jin for a short moment but his eyes was back on the baby when a soft whimper was heard from her. Jin looked at the baby as well but then he averted his eyes again when he saw that she had let go of her mother’s breast, leaving it full exposed to their eyes.
“I think she’s full now” Keiko explained as she made an attempt to cover herself up again.
“Come her Hana-chan” Kame cooed and took the baby out from her mother’s embrace to make it easier for Keiko to adjust her clothes. “Was it yummy? Did you have a nice meal?”
Jin’s eyes widen in shock at what Kame was saying. It sounded far dirtier in his head than it probably should but Kame obviously wasn’t aware of that. Keiko just chuckled at Kame’s words and once she was properly covered up again she got up from the couch.
“I’ll leave her with you for a moment then” she ruffled Kame’s hair, and then Jin’s before she leaned down and gave the baby cradled in Kame’s arms a kiss on the head. “Be a nice baby”
Jin stayed silent for a few minutes just watching Kame nuzzling, kissing and cooing the baby in his arms. It was an utterly adorable sight and it made Jin feel all warm inside.
“You look good together” he commented shifting his position so that his body was turned completely towards Kame. “She’s adorable” and so are you, Jin added in his mind as Kame smiled at him.
“Wanna hold her?” Kame asked and Jin replied with a soft nod. Kame loosened his hold of the baby and carefully they moved her into Jin’s arms. She protested a little at first, reaching out her small hand to grab Kame’s shirt but once they had managed to settle her into Jin’s embrace she let go. She looked at Jin with her small eyes and then reached out a hand to grab Jin’s hair. Her grip wasn’t strong but still it hurt a little and Jin winced.
“She likes you already” Kame commented and took a hold of her other hand.
“Well, I am irresistible and so is she” Jin smirked and looked down at the baby.
“You had a present for her right?” Kame let go of her hand and leaned over to look for the bag.
“Yeah” Jin carefully reached a hand towards the bag that he had put on the floor next to the couch and took out the present. He held it in front of Hana who looked at it and abandoned Jin’s hair for the strings wrapped around the package. They let her play with it for a while before Jin handed it to Kame.
“I think you’re better fit for unwrapping it” Jin said with a smile as Kame took the package from him. He squeezed the package slightly before he slowly started to unwrap it. Jin was seriously pretty nervous over his choice but having the little girl in his arms somehow soothed him.
“A red squishy soccer ball?” Kame said and looked at Jin with amusement written all over his face.
“Yeah, you gotta teach her to play at an early stage if you want her to become a professional” Jin smirked and took the ball from Kame to give it to the girl. She let go of the grip she had on Jin’s shirt and gripped the ball instead. She held it as firmly as possible and then she moved it to her mouth to bite at it.
“I think she likes it as much as she likes me” Jin looked over at Kame. “She’ll become a great soccer player”
“I don’t think my brother would like the plan you’ve set out for her” Kame chuckled and moved in to Jin slightly closer as he grabbed a hold of her small feet. “But her feet are clearly the ones of a future soccer player.”
“I’d thought you’d want her to play baseball?” Jin raised his eyebrow at Kame.
“Yeah, that’d be great but you got first and anyway she looks more like a soccer player, a very adorable one, than she looks like a baseball player.” Kame squeezed her feet lightly. “And anyways I can always make my other future nieces or nephews or any of our kids to play baseball”
“Our kids?” Jin echoed back. Did Kame mean that they’d get kids together? But they weren’t even dating, yet, or were they? Had Jin missed something very important here?
“Yeah” Kame said seemingly oblivious to Jin’s confusion as he was focusing all of his attention on the girl in Jin’s arms. “I wonder if our kids will be just as adorable and cute as Hana-chan. But that’s pretty impossible, right? Since she’s the most adorable baby there is, right?”
“Yeah” Jin agreed still puzzled about why Kame kept talking about their kids but he didn’t want to ask. If he really had missed something about the development of their relationship then he didn’t want to come across as more stupid than he already was. And if he was just reading too much into it, misunderstanding things, then the same thing applied.
“Yeah” Kame repeated and then leaned his head against Jin’s shoulder as he continued to play with her small and soft feet covered in flowery baby socks. Jin stiffened slightly at the sudden closeness but didn’t comment on it. He just threw a glance at Kame and noticed that he had closed his eyes and had a soft smile playing on his lips. Jin then looked at the baby in his arms and noticed that she too had her eyes closed, probably already asleep, with the red ball squeezed in between her head and Jin’s chest. He smiled at the sight and then let out a soft contented sigh. It felt so right sitting like this, with Kame resting against his side, letting out small puffs of warm air against his neck, and a baby sleeping in his arms. It made him feel warm and happy and fully contented. He wouldn’t mind if he could stay like that forever and ever.
