Title: A Day in the Rain

Summary: Ryo forces Ueda with him out to the beach on a rainy day.

A/N: Having a bad day? Or maybe just feeling like you need a little Ryoda fluff? Well here you have some. I wrote this for everyone who feels the need for some Ryoda fluff. I hope you’ll enjoy reading this (^____^)
Ueda opened the front door dressed in his favourite sweat pants and warm, cotton sweater. Because of the weather outside he felt a little chilly even while he was securely inside his apartment.
“Are you ready?” Ryo asked without a proper greeting once Ueda had opened the door.
“Ready for what?” Ueda asked back taking in the sight of Ryo. The other was looking as if he was ready for a hike in the rain what with his jeans being tucked into a pair rain boots, and his upper body being covered by a coat that looked like it would stand against water and wind.
“Our outing” Ryo said walking pass Ueda and into hall. “We decided that we would go to beach today.”
“Yeah, but you can’t mean that we will actually go” Ueda said closing the door slowly. “It’s almost storming outside, which I can see you have noticed or you wouldn’t get dressed up like that”
“There is no bad weather, only bad clothing” Ryo smirked. “And we are still going. I have everything packed in the car”
“You can’t be serious” Ueda growled. “We can’t go in this weather. And what is there to do on the beach in weather like this?”
“Lots of things” Ryo said pushing Ueda in the direction of his bedroom. “But the best thing is of course that there will most likely be no other people around so we will be all alone. Now off and get some proper clothes on” he gave Ueda one finally push that had him flying though the door and into the room.
“But can’t we just stay in and watch a-” Ueda tried to reason while he struggle to get back out from the bedroom but Ryo was making a good work at acting out as the Great Wall of China.
“No, do as I say!” Ryo said firmly showing of his full strength.
After finally giving up against Ryo’s stubbornness Ueda found himself sitting in the passenger’s seat of Ryo’s car fiddling with the buttons to the radio. He was still not up to this trip but Ryo giving him the full control over the radio did make up for it a little bit. How Ryo would want to go to the sea when the rain was pouring down around them like if they were standing underneath a waterfall. Ueda grumbled as he tried his best to find a good reception but it seemed the weather was affection the radio tower.
“Wipe the frown of your face” Ryo said as he started the care and carefully drove it out from the parking space. “I promise you the weather will be better in a couple of hours.”
“Yeah right, and I can see fairies” Ueda snapped back giving up on the radio when the only channel that seemed to send properly was one that was currently playing some classical tune that he thought he might have heard somewhere in a movie.
“Just trust me” Ryo said moving his hand from the gear stick to pat Ueda on the knee. “I promise you that when we get back home later in the evening you will be really happy that I got you into doing this”
Ueda didn’t reply to that he just stubbornly looked out through the window watching the empty, gray streets. Days like this was to be spent lying in bed watching movies and eating take out, not doing trips to the beach.
After what to Ueda felt like hours, but actually only was one and a half, they finally arrive at the beach Ryo had chosen for them. By that time the rain had gotten lighter, the sky a little brighter and the wind had slowed down. Ueda had to admit to himself that Ryo had been right about the weather. They parked the car and Ryo jumped out of the car to run up and open the door for Ueda.
“You don’t have to act like that” Ueda’s mood was still after two hours a bit foul. “I know how to open a car door”
“No need to be rude. I was just being nice” Ryo sighed closing the door again and then started to walk away from the car. Ueda looked dumbfounded after his boyfriend’s retorting back that was slowly making its way down on the sand. He felt kind of bad now. He quickly unfastened his seat belt and jumped out of the car to run up to his boyfriend.
“I shouldn’t have said that” Ueda said as he came up next to Ryo and grabbed a hold of the other’s hand. “I’m sorry”
“That’s my line” Ryo smiled softly. “I put you in the bad mood to start with. But I was really looking forward to this you know”
“Walking on the beach in the rain?” Ueda smiled back playfully.
“No, taking a trip with you” Ryo nudged him back in the shoulder. “And it has almost stopped raining. Anyway, we almost never do anything outside of the city.”
“But we could’ve postponed it for another time” Ueda replied throwing a glance out over the dark sea and the waves rolling into the beach.
“But it could be months from now that we’d had a whole day off at the same time” Ryo started to walk along the shore dragging Ueda with him by the hand. “And this isn’t so bad is it?”
“No, it actually is pretty nice” Ueda had to smile again, and it actually was nice.
“And look, even the sun is starting to show up” Ryo raised his free hand and pointed into the sky. Behind one of the many gray clouds a few rays of sunshine was making their ways through.
“We’ll probably be able to see a rainbow soon if we’re lucky” Ryo continued on smiling brightly as they carried on with their walk along the beach.
They returned to the car another couple of hours later after had spent their time walking and collecting a few sea shells on the beach. It had been very peaceful and Ueda had almost forgotten about the feelings he had had towards this trip in the beginning of it. The rain had never completely stopped, even though the sun had fought its way through the clouds, but the drops that fell from the sky was small and light as feathers. A beautiful and clear rainbow had appeared in the sky, in front of which Ueda had forced Ryo to pose for a photo.
“Hungry?” Ryo asked opening the trunk and brought out a big basket. “I’ve prepared us some”
“Picnic?” Ueda was delighted at the thought.
“Yeah, but I’m not sure if we should really sit on the beach. Maybe it’s better if we sit inside the car?” Ryo scratched the back of his head slightly. “We can still see the ocean even from inside the car”
“Let’s get inside” Ueda agreed and quickly got into the car, Ryo wasn’t much slower.
“So what did you bring?” Ueda asked taking the basket from Ryo and opened it.
“Nothing special” Ryo answered pushing his seat back as much as possible to give him better space. “Just sandwiches, tea, coffee, and cookies. Things that wouldn’t get too messy. Give me one of the sandwiches”
“Okay” Ueda replied moving around in the basket until he found what appeared to be it wrapped up in tinfoil and handed it to Ryo. “What do you want to drink?”
“I’ll start with coffee” Ryo answered unwrapping his sandwich while Ueda took out the thermos labelled with coffee with a permanent marker. He found a plastic cup that he handed to Ryo who gratefully took it before he opened up the thermos and poured some of the black heated liquid into it.
“What are you drinking?” Ryo asked while he put the cup away into the cup holder on his right side.
“Coffee as well” Ueda replied and Ryo was quick to take the thermos from his hands.
“Let me help you pour some then” Ryo said searching for the other plastic cup in the basket. He found it and gave it to Ueda who held it with both his hands. He could feel the heat from the coffee through the plastic and it spread up though his body.
“Thanks” Ueda smiled and Ryo stopped pouring.
“You’re welcome.” Ryo smiled back putting the cap back onto the thermos again.
“Thanks” Ueda said still holding on to his cup as he caught Ryo’s eyes.
“You already said that” Ryo said but didn’t break their gaze.
“I’m thanking you for something else” Ueda leaned in closer to Ryo. “Thank you for forcing me with you today”
Ryo didn’t reply, he just simply closed the distance between them as he kissed Ueda gently on the lips.
