Summary: Kame, Ran-chan and Jelly have a date with Tego and Skull-kun.

A/N: I have wanted something like this to be written ever since I found out Tegoshi has a toy poodle some weeks ago. However that never happened so I took it into my own hands and wrote the story myself. I hope you enjoy reading this :)
He walks into the park. Ran-chan and Jelly is with him. They’re nosy as always and he has to stop every now and then to let them sniff the grass or a tree or a bench or anything else that sparks their curiosity. He doesn’t mind. He’s in no rush. The other will most likely not show up yet in another half an hour. Spring has arrived. The sound of children’s laughter mixes wonderfully with the birds singing in the trees and with the rustling sound caused by a soft breeze. He smiles for himself as he makes his way to the appointed meeting point. The ice cream stand.
He’s surprised to see that the other has already arrived when he gets there several long minutes later. Minutes of peace and calm. Ran-chan and Jelly barks happily as they recognize the younger man clad in jeans and a simple jacket and the small dog sniffing the ground around his feet. He can’t help but smile as the other look up at the sound and their eyes meet. There’s a happy twinkle in the other’s eyes. His own eyes are probably twinkling as well but no one would be able to tell since they’re covered with his favourite sunglasses.
“Hi” he says as he comes to a halt in front of Tego and pushes the sunglasses up to rest on his head.
“Hi” Tego’s still smiling and then Kame kneels down to greet Skull-kun as well with a pat and scratch behind the ears. Tego follows him down to the ground to greet Ran-chan and Jelly who’s more than happy to let him ruffle their fur affectionately.
“I was thinking of buying ice cream,” Tego looks over at the stand “The weather kind of calls for it. Do you want some?”
Kame gets back up, stretching his legs and looks first at the stand and then at Tego. “Sure, you’re offering to pay, right?”
“You paid for my coffee the last time so it’d only be fair” Tego smiles and hands Kame Skull-kun’s leach. “Hold this while I buy, okey? What flavour do you want?”
Kame thinks for a brief moment before he answers. “Strawberry”
Tego nods and then walk the few metres that are between Kame and the stand. Kame follows him with his gaze but gets disrupted by the three dogs asking him for attention. Skull-kun and Jelly is trying to get into his jacket pocket. It’s obvious that they’ve realized that he has some dog candy with him. Ran-chan, the older and wiser dog, sits down and gives him a pleadingly look as if asking nicely for him to give her some. A soft chuckle escapes him as he stands up and then reaches into the pocket that Jelly and Skull-kun so eagerly had tried to get to. He takes out three pieces, and they all go crazy around him. The two younger dogs is trying to reach his hand by jumping while Ran-chan stays seated but her tail is wagging like crazy, swishing dust and flower petals of the ground.
“Sit down Jelly” Kame orders but his dog is too hyped up to really pay attention. He has to say it a few more times before Jelly actually follows the order and Kame puts the candy on top of the dog’s nose. “Good boy”
Jelly gets the candy into his mouth in one swift movement and as he’s busy chewing on it Kame hands the other dogs their own candies. They’ve just finished eating when Tego comes back and hands Kame his ice cream cone while taking back Skull-kun’s leach at the same time.
“Thanks” Kame says and his tongue dart out to take a lick. He can’t help but let out a soft moan. The cold ice cream is just that delicious. He hears Tego chuckle at him and he just gives the other a sheepish smile.
“Shall we start walking?” Tego asks before he tastes his own ice cream, chocolate and Kame just replies with a simple nod.
They walk aimlessly around the big park, talking about whatever comes to their minds while the dogs keep on investigating the surroundings. It’s nice and comfortable and Kame feels genuinely happy. His heart flutters a little whenever Tego laughs or gives him that smile that Kame knows only appears when they’re together. He’s never seen Tego smile like that in any other situation and Tego smiles a lot. If they weren’t idols and they didn’t have to look out for people catching them on photo, then Kame would reach out his free hand and intertwine his fingers with Tego’s.
“Wanna come over to my place?” Kame asks as they’re back where they started – the ice cream stand. He has no idea what time it is but the sun is slowly setting so they must’ve been walking for over a couple of hours. “We could get take out and watch a movie while the dogs gets to play freely”
“I’d love to.” Tego replies right away, without as much as a second thought. Kame’s heart flutter again as he is faced with that special smile. He smiles back and then they start walking slowly in the direction Kame had come from hours earlier.
Kame lives rather close to the park. On their way they pick up some food from one of Kame’s favourite Chinese restaurants. Tego waits outside the store with the three dogs while Kame runs in to place their order. He’s soon back out again, joining Tego while they wait for the food to get ready. Once it’s ready they continue on towards Kame’s apartment. He’s happy he only lives five minutes away because it’s starting to get chilly and he was optimistic enough not to bring a scarf with him when he left a few hours earlier.
“Welcome back” Kame says as they enter his apartment. He throws his keys into the blue glass bowl standing on the small drawer next to the door and putting the plastic bag with food next to it.
“Thanks it’s nice to be back” Tego smiles, freeing Skull-kun before proceeding to free Ran-chan and Jelly since he’s already on the floor. Once free Jelly dashes towards the kitchen with Skull-kun on his tail. Kame looks after them as he shuffles out of his sneakers and then takes the bag again to put it on couch table in the living room. Ran-chan follows him into the room and immediately jumps up into her favourite spot in the armchair.
“Make yourself at home.” Kame says as he passes Tego who’s still by the front door busy getting his boots of on his way to the kitchen. “I’ll just get us some plates and something to drink. Beer or wine?”
“Beer” Tego replies as he is finally freed from his shoes.
“Okay” Kame nods and disappears into the kitchen and notices that Jelly and Skull-kun is sitting by the empty food bowls.
“Thirsty?” he asks and they bark at him as if they understands him. He opens the refrigerator and takes out two cans of beer and a bottle of water. He pours some of the water into one of the bowls and Skull-kun and Jelly are quick to start lapping. He lets the bottle stay on the counter as he takes out the plates and then with his other hand he takes the beer bottles of the counter. When he’s back in the living room Tego is kneeling in front of the DVD player. An open and empty DVD case is lying next to him.
“Which movie did you chose?” Kame asks putting the cans and the plates on the table next to the plastic bag.
Tego just holds up the case for Kame to see and he recognizes it as one of the movies Jin had gotten him for his birthday that year. One of the many American action movies that Jin insists are must sees. He ponders telling Jin later that the only reason Kame actually watched that movie was because of Tego.
“I’ve never heard of it and it looks like a cool movie” Tego says as a sort of explanation even though Kame didn’t question his choice.
“I haven’t watched it either” Kame takes the food out of the plastic bag and opens the containers. It smells delicious. He turns his head in the direction of the doorway when he hears the sounds of small paws running across the floor. Tego and Ran-chan turns their head in the same direction and soon Jelly and Skull-kun’s joined them in the living room. Jelly has his new favourite toy, a yellow duck that once was able to squeak when you squeezed it. It was a horrible sound and Kame is happy that Jelly destroyed that function the same day he got the toy from Yamapi. Jelly and Skull-kun jumps up into the armchair Ran-chan’s lying on at the same time as Tego sits down on the couch next to Kame. All three makes themselves comfortable, Skull-kun and Jelly snuggling up against Ran-chan and Tego, consciously or unconsciously moves a bit closer to Kame.
Half an hour into the movie they’re finished with the food and Kame still has no idea what the movie is about. Tego doesn’t seem to have the same problem as his eyes are glued to the screen while he’s sipping on his beer. Kame sighs and contemplates cleaning up the table since he probably won’t be any smarter watching this movie anyway. He’s just about to get up when Tego shifts next to him and casually rests his head against Kame’s shoulder and his free hand moves to lie on Kame’s thigh. He turns his head to look at Tego and his own hand moves to rest on top of Tego’s. Even though Tego is still facing the TV Kame can see the smile that appears on his face. He smiles and then feels how Tego turns his hand around so that their palms meet and they can intertwine their fingers. Kame’s heart skips a beat. He’s wanted to hold Tego’s hand since they met earlier. Tego’s hand is warm and soft just as Kame remembers from last time. He turns his head back to watch the TV and there is another car chase taking place. Kame’s lost count over how many of those there have been so far in the movie. A few moments pass but then Kame feels the movement of Tego next to him and then Tego’s face appears right in front of him. His eyes are big and sparkling and they dazzle Kame.
“What?” he asks and then Tego leans in closer. Kame knows exactly what’s coming as he closes his eyes. Tego’s lips feels just as Kame remembers as well. Soft and warm, just like his hands. They don’t taste the same though. This time they taste a bit bitter like the beer they’ve been drinking mixed with what Kame guess is Tego’s own special taste. It must be because that special taste was there the last time as well and the times before that. Only back then it had been mixed with the taste of coffee.
“I don’t really understand this movie” Tego says as they break the kiss and they both throw a glance at the TV just as one of the cars crash into a building and explodes.
“Me neither” Kame reaches for the remote control to turn the TV off. “Let’s do something else”
“What do you have in mind?” Tego asks as the TV goes black but he is already up on the floor and pulling Kame with him. Kame can think about several things they could do but he knows that Tego already has decided what they’re doing. The glint in Tego’s eyes says it all. Kame’s seen it many times before and when he a couple of hours later gets out of bed to clean up the living room he feels happy and satisfied. The dogs are still snoozing peacefully in the armchair and in fear of waking them up he holds himself back from patting them and instead just watches them.
“Leave it for tomorrow” Tego says wrapping his arms around Kame from behind. Kame doesn’t reply and just lets himself being pulled back to the bed and to snuggle close to Tego’s warm body under the blanket.
