A/N: This really was meant to be a Christmas drabble but somehow it ended up over 2000 words O_O The plot line got to me yesterday when I was going to bed and I fell asleep planning it. I warn you, this is a bit cheesy but I like it because well, you all should know by now that I am a Fluff and sap lover. With that said I hope you all will enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it ♥
”What are you doing?” Jin asked curiously as he stepped into Kame’s room while drying his hair with a towel. It was yet another sleep over for him at the Kamenashi household.
“Nothing” Kame replied from where he sat by his desk and quickly covered the paper he had obviously been writing on.
“Really?” Jin said coming up next to him and before Kame could react he had managed to snap the paper away from him. “My Christmas list to Santa?” he read out loud and gave Kame an amused grin. “Santa?”
“Shut up” Kame gritted snapping the paper back again before Jin could read any further. He pulled out one of the drawers in the desk and put the paper there before slammining it shut.
“You do know that Santa doesn’t exist, right?” Jin asked still amused over the fact that Kame, who was about to turn 16 next year, still wrote something like that.
“Yes, of course I do” Kame huffed and turned away from Jin to fiddle with a pencil lying on the desk. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t write a Christmas Wish List”
“You write it every year?” Jin was really curious now and he wanted to know what was on that list. “Can I see it so that I know what to get you this year?”
“No!” Kame answered a bit too quickly and his hands flew to the handle of the drawer in which the list had been put. It was as if he was afraid of Jin reading it and wanted to protect it.
“Why?” Jin raised an eyebrow as he glanced down at the hands securely put on the front surface of the drawer.
“Because I don’t want you too. I can tell you what I want instead” Kame replied avoiding any kind of eye contact with Jin. “I want-“
Jin didn’t listen to what Kame wished for as he was too preoccupied with wondering why Kame was so against him reading the wish list. Didn’t you write wish lists so that other people could read them and find out what to get you?
Later, when Jin was sure that Kame had fallen asleep next to him he got up and made his way to the desk. He pulled out the drawer carefully while throwing cautious glances over at Kame to make sure the other wasn’t waking up. He took up the piece of paper and started to skim through it. The list was long and mostly contained of things that any other boy would wish for. Jin couldn’t for the world understand why Kame had wanted to hide it from him until he got to the wish on the very bottom of the paper.
“I wish that Jin will like me like me” Jin mumbled as he was slightly confused over that wish. “Like me like me?” What did that mean? Jin already liked Kame, and he had told Kame that plenty of times.
“I want Jin to like me like me?” Jin frowned. And why did Kame write like me two times after each other?
Jin put the list back into the drawer and shut it carefully before he padded back to bed to lie down again. He was just about to close his eyes and fall asleep when it hit him what Kame had meant with that wish. He was wishing for Jin to like him as in liking him as more than a friend. Kame was in love with him! Jin’s heart skipped a beat and he felt how his insides started to squirm but in a nice sort of way. He shifted his body so that he could face Kame’s peacefully sleeping face. Jin looked at Kame for a moment while contemplating what this news meant for him but before he could come to a conclusion he fell asleep.
Four weeks later it was Christmas Eve and Jin was spending it at home with the company of Kame, as well as Ryo and Yamapi, whom both had failed at finding a cute girl to spend this evening with. Jin’s parents were out for dinner and theatre and his brother was at some friend’s house. Jin was so excited to be spending this evening with Kame, since he had come up with a great gift for Kame. Or so he hoped at least.
“Kame, can you come with me for a moment?” Jin asked as he got up from the couch in the living room. They were playing video games and it was currently Yamapi and Ryo who was racing against each others on the screen which meant that this was the perfect opportunity.
“What for?” Kame asked from the other end of the couch.
“Help me get out some more snacks?” Jin replied with a goofy smile and leaned over to pull Kame up by the elbow. Kame didn’t reply verbally but gave Jin a quizzical look as he was dragged into the kitchen.
“What is it really that you brought me here for?” Kame asked when Jin let go of him in the kitchen. Jin took a deep breath as he turned around to face Kame again. It was now time to deliver his gift to Kame, and even if he was sure Kame would love it there was still a small, tiny, chance that Kame would hate the gift. From the living room they could still hear the sound of the game going on.
“I haven’t given you my Christmas gift yet” Jin smiled brightly at his friend and took a step closer.
“And you can’t give it to me in the living room?” Kame frowned and looked slightly confused.
“Yeah, because I am pretty sure you don’t want the other’s to see it” Jin took another step forward so that he was now standing just a couple of inches away from the other.
“Huh?” Kame was still confused. “What-“
Jin cut him off by leaning in and placing his lips against Kame in a soft kiss. Jin didn’t know what Kame looked like because he had closed his own eyes but he was sure the other was extremely surprised and that it probably showed on his face. Jin was about to pull away and open his eyes again when he felt the other hesitatingly start to move his lips against his. Jin smiled and the butterflies in his stomach, the butterflies that had moved in some time ago and stayed, were going crazy.
“What was that for?” Kame asked as they broke the kiss just a short moment later. He looked slightly dazed and even more confused than before and an adorable shade of pink had appeared on his cheeks.
“You don’t understand?” Jin frowned slightly. How could Kame not understand? Did the kiss not convey his feelings clear enough? Kame was about to reply but Jin cut him off again with a kiss to which Kame replied to quickly if still a bit hesitant. Jin was determined to make Kame know exactly what this meant and placed his hands on both sides of Kame’s head to tilt it to the side as he deepened the kiss.
“Do you understand now?” Jin asked slightly out of breath as he broke the kiss. Kame blinked still looking dazed and confused and utterly adorable.
“How can you not understand when what you wished for has come true?” Jin groaned.
“Wished for?” Kame replied slowly and in a soft voice.
“Yeah, you wished for me to like you, like you, right?” Jin answered but the moment the words were out he clasped his hands over his mouth.
“You read it!?” Kame said, his eyes flaring with anger as he poked a finger hard on Jin’s chest. “You read my wish list even though I told you not to!”
Jin gulped as his mind was working hard to come up with a good excuse.
“I... I” He stuttered. “If I hadn’t then I wouldn’t-“
“Wouldn’t what?” Kame glared.
“Then I wouldn’t have realized my own feelings” Jin replied and bit down on his lower lip. “And I wouldn’t have come up with the best gift in the history of Christmas gifts”
Kame’s glare softened slightly but anger was still present. “That doesn’t make what you did right. You still read it without my permission”
“I know it was wrong but I don’t regret doing it” Jin sighed looking down on his feet. This all was really not going as he had hoped. Why didn’t Kame realize by the first kiss without Jin having to explain it all?
“You’re not sorry?” Kame’s voice was soft and he didn’t sound all that angry anymore. It surprised Jin who looked back up to face Kame.
“No, I’m not.” Jin smiled softly. “because who knows for how long I would’ve been oblivious about your feelings and my own feelings if I hadn’t read it. I like you Kame, as more than a friend, and so do you. I mean you like me as more than a friend. You do like me, right? That was what the wish meant right? You wanted me to-“
This time it was Kame who cut Jin of with a kiss but a kiss that was merely lips touching lips and nothing else.
“What was that for?” Jin was confused. Wasn’t Kame mad at him just a minute ago?
“You don’t understand?” Kame mimicked Jin’s earlier words and then leaned in to press their lips together again. This time in a proper kiss to which Jin was quick to reply to it as he slowly started to understand. He grinned in his head, feeling proud that he for once was the one that was quicker at getting something. Today he wasn’t the one who should be called idiot.
“You’re forgiving me” Jin smiled as they pulled apart.
“Yes” Kame smiled back but then turned serious. “But if you ever do anything like that ever again I will break all your records and your guitar before I break every bone in your body”
Jin wasn’t afraid of that threat. It was just words, and he was way stronger than Kame anyway. Not that he was planning to do something like that again but he probably would if he knew himself half as good as he thought.
“Yeah, yeah sure” He smirked and leaned in to kiss Kame once again but the younger one ducked away from him.
“We better get back into the living room before-“ He started to explain when Jin pouted at him in disappointment.
“Before we notice that you’ve been gone far too long for just getting some more snacks?” Ryo’s voice came from the door way and they both quickly spun around to face their friends. Jin was more than surprised and he was most definitely embarrassed that they got caught by their friends. He had no idea what to respond with so he settles with a “Shut up and get out of here”.
“Just what we’re planning to do” Ryo smirked while Yamapi was chuckling beside him. “Yamapi and I are going to the movies since it seems like we’ll only be in the way now”
“Yeah, have a nice Christmas date” Yamapi managed to get out between his chuckles. “Merry Christmas”
“Me-r-ry Chr-is-t-ma-s” Jin replied back in an extremely slow voice as his friends disappeared out of the kitchen again. He didn’t dare look at Kame until he heard the front door slam shut after Ryo and Yamapi friends but when he did he saw that the other had a completely blank expression. Jin opened his mouth to ask how he was but Kame beat him at breaking the silence.
“This is the weirdest Christmas Eve ever” Kame said almost in a whisper and turned to face Jin. Their eyes locked. “First you kiss me. Then you confess. And to finish it all, Ryo-kun and Yamashita-kun catch us but leave us alone without really teasing us. I was sure that they would-“
“Yeah, maybe they’re filled up with the so called Christmas spirit.”Jin smiled but he was just as confused as Kame about his friends’ behaviour “You know the whole thing about being extra nice during Christmas”
“Ryo-kun?” Kame sounded doubtful.
“You’re right” Jin nodded. “They’re probably doing some master plotting as we speak. We should worry but-“
“But let’s do that later” Kame filled in with a smile. “You know what? This is not only the weirdest Christmas Eve. it’s also the best”
Even if Jin thought that Kame’s comment was slightly cheesy he couldn’t agree more with that statement.
